Behind The Brand (The Unfiltered Story)

Ah, where do I start?

Growing up in a strict traditional Asian household felt like being snuggled in a tight embrace of cultural roots. Modesty was the holy grail of fashion, and my mom was the reigning stylist queen—whether I vibed with her choices or not. Think awkward outfits sans my personality. Can anyone relate? #MomKnowsBest (except when she doesn't).

But life took a chic turn when I hit Melbourne for Uni. Suddenly, I was immersed in a world of self-discovery and killer streetwear.

Melbourne Fashion Street Style

From punk rock rebellion to vintage elegance, people wore their personalities like badges of honour. It was the beginning of my style evolution —right in the heart of Melbourne’s gritty, unapologetic fashion scene.

The first thing I learned? Layering. It’s not just about clothes—it’s about mixing pieces until it somehow works, striking that perfect blend of effortless and chic. It was about owning my journey, blending high and low, and creating something unapologetically me. That’s the heart of Paper Provision. We took that same vibe and turned it into greeting cards—mix-and-match envelopes, liners, and cards so you can play, experiment, and make it as wild or refined as you want. It’s not just stationery—it’s your license to get creative and say, 'This is me.'

And then came my obsession with art and interior design. You know, the kind of Instagram-worthy setups—gallery walls that scream aesthetic goals and homes that looked straight out of a design mag? I fell in love. I saw it and thought, I want that. It was like discovering a whole new level of freedom and beauty that I didn’t even know I was missing.Instagram homes collage

At my parents’ house back home? It's a different story. Family photos, degrees, and traditional Chinese calligraphy dominate. Every time I go back and visit my old room, I’m greeted by new walls painted in hues that make me question all my life choices. Don’t get me wrong—I get it, Mom’s house, Mom’s rules—but seriously, can a grown woman get a room that actually feels like hers? #BoundariesWhatsThat

"Style is a deeply personal expression of who you are, and everytime you dress, you are asserting a part of yourself."

Nina Garcia

To me the the clothes we wear and the things we choose to surround ourselves with are are like the unsung heroes of self-expression. They're your silent storyteller. No words needed, just pure emotion. And TBH, I craved a space where my voice could shine without anyone else's vibes crashing the party. 💫  So when the stars aligned to blend my two loves—fashion and art—into a business, I was all in.

And that’s how Paper Provision came to life. I had a vision for a brand that goes beyond just aesthetics; it's about tapping into your creative core and owning what really resonates with you. Whether you’re refining your signature style or turning your space into something that feels you, We’re here to help you own it. #UnapologeticallyYou
